The EUIPO SME Fund offers substantial financial support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the European Union, and Ukraine, to help them protect their intellectual property (IP) rights. This initiative aims to enhance innovation, competitiveness, and investment attractiveness among SMEs.

Applications for co-financing for intellectual property (IP) protection under the EUIPO SME Fund 2026 will open on 2 February 2026.

Key Benefits

Financial Assistance:

The fund provides reimbursement vouchers covering up to 75% of eligible costs for IP protection activities. For instance, SMEs can receive up to €1,000 for patent registrations and up to €700 for trademark or design registrations.

Comprehensive Coverage:

Support is available for various IP rights, including patents, trademarks, designs, and plant varieties. Additionally, legal costs associated with drafting and filing European patent applications can be reimbursed up to €1,500.

IP Scan Service:

SMEs can benefit from an IP Scan, a diagnostic tool that assesses their IP needs and strategies, with up to 90% reimbursement, depending on the country.

Enhanced Global Competitiveness

By securing IP rights, SMEs can protect their innovations, enhance their market position, and become more attractive to investors.

Eligibility Criteria:

SMEs established in the EU or Ukraine
Fewer than 250 employees.
Annual turnover not exceeding €50 million or annual balance sheet total not exceeding €43 million.
Not having received other public funding for the same activities.
